Quality has remained consistent over the years and is the only brand of food I feed my dogs. Sadly, s3ome very good friends as well as a neighbor got into the feed your dog all raw meat kick and their beautiful dogs passed prematurely due to dilated cardiomyopathy, or DCM. There’s plenty on both sides of the argument. I’ve logically been on the dogs have lived with hoomans for centuries and will eat whatever we don’t including veggies so I logically felt a mixture of grains was a good thing. My dogs have been blessed with good health with the exception of one – she died of IMHI, gone in 3 days – but all have maintained beautiful coats, teeth and health. I even buy them a case or two of Royal Canin canned food for a treat. They’re all from 60 to 105 pounds so we buy lots of this product. I should get a job as a rep I speak so highly of the product and my dogs all look like show dogs but are all rescues. Great product, still recommend it after all these years!
This is the ONLY brand dog food I will feed my “pack” of 4 dogs. I purchase 3 different products from Puppy, to Medium, to Large and feed them separately. Two of my dogs were on “death row” at the animal shelter and their coats were so pathetic, they were sick. I had to hand feed them some wet Royal Canin to get them to even eat at first and then they’ve been on the product since January. Their coats are so shiny and smooth!! The transformation has been incredible. My male dog I’ve had from 8 weeks and his coat is so shiny and soft you’d literally think he’s a stuffed animal. Cannot say enough positive things about this product. They eat less and have smaller and firmer stools – important when cleaning up after 4 big dogs!

When I first ordered this food it was $75. I may have got a deal for a first time subscription. The next couple of times was $78. The following couple of times were $84. Now it is $94,(Sub and save prices). The price keeps going up for the same size bag (30 pound). I’m switching food brands for that reason. I do use their cat food too and that has increased as well. If you don’t care about price it is a good dog food and cat food. I got my pets from shelters and they had tummy troubles. This was beneficial for them.

Our dogs are more our children than our pets. They are our life. When my sister in law called to tell me the kibble company that we had trusted for years had been sold to another owner and they were sourcing their ingredients from China, I knew we needed to find another brand. I called our vet and she recommended Royal Canin because that is what she feeds her dog. As we actually dog sit for our vet and know her dog is a lovely animal I was happy to switch.
Royal Canin is a great company. They have vet scientists on staff and they do feeding trials. These are the things people need to look for when searching for a new kibble.
When we switched from our old brand, which will remain nameless, we did it over two weeks. Our Aussies love the Royal Canin. They are both seniors – 7 and 13 years old – and we decided to feed the both the 7+. On their old kibble they had a few minor dry skin issues and our youngest Aussie had just been diagnosed with very minor kidney failure. Both girls are a healthy weight and exercise daily.
After being on the Royal Canin for six months we had blood work done on both girls and we were absolutely stunned at the results. Not only were our youngest Aussie’s kidney results normal, but our oldest’s liver function was better too. Both girls’ coats have improved dramatically. Our vet was so impressed she asked what we were doing differently.
We were concerned about weight gain because we switched food during the winter when our girls still get exercise with indoor ball and some short outdoor walks, but not nearly as much running and walking as they get in the spring and fall during dog park season. Both girls maintained their weight.
I would highly recommend Royal Canin. We feed the wet food on lick mats and in frozen food toys and the dry kibble along with a probiotic twice daily.

You know how you can never get a Vet to recommend a brand of food? ! My husky started as a puppy on it, and we switched to some others [taste of the wild being the most successful, and then asked a Vet friend, who off the record said- says this is the only brand she feeds HER dog! The package had an excellent sell by date [later than my local feed store]. Not any cheaper, but very fresh, and came promptly, and was very convenient. Only mistake I made was getting the Xtra large size/weight. Mine only goes through 1/2 of that a month. I’m switching to the 30lb bag after this, and will use the monthly service, as the freshness and ease was tops. Remember to avoid grain free from any producer!

The very good product liked my puppy very much, unfortunately the PACKAGE CAME ROTO I did not return since I had no more food and would not leave my pet without food. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THE HANDLING OF THE PACKAGES, ESPECIALLY WITH FOOD, THANK YOU

I first bought this dog food after my vet said this was the only brand he would recommend. Right away I noticed a difference. Every dog food I had bought before had this powdery residue that was always left over in the bowl— not this one! My picky dog eats this food with relish, and has no digestive issues with it. Since he is 11 years old, my hope is that Amazon will start selling the senior version of this dog food.

As a veterinarian, I want to have quality food for my dog. I have been feeding my dog this for years now and he loves it! His coat was in show condition, he maintains a good weight easily and had the energy when he was younger to compete in agility competitions without issue. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great quality food for their medium sized dog.

After years of making my own dog food and sporadically buying small bags of food in the mix, I finally made a choice to switch my dog food to Royal Canin. This was in part based on a friend’s recommendation and mainly to make my life a bit easier.
The two dogs, a border collie and a golden, like it well enough but they will eat anything.
I bought this the 30lb bag in February for $85 plus tax. Less than 30 days later it’s at $99 plus tax.
This is a 17% price increase. While inflation is high. It’s not that high!
When I contacted the company seeking an explanation the response was, “The decision to increase our prices is never taken lightly, but it is necessary to continue to deliver a quality product for the pets that we serve. The rising costs of innovation, raw materials, packaging and transportation are reflected in the current price increase.”
And with that absolutely unbelievable response they have lost my business.
In an environment where mountains of dogs are being euthanized daily because pet owners can no longer afford to keep them, I expect more of an American company – especially one that has profited so much and is one of the most profitable American companies.
3 stars for ingredients as I didn’t like some of the ingredients – the second item is byproduct!
5 stars for the freshness – it looked fresh.
I didn’t star for the flavor – my dogs didn’t tell me and I wasn’t gonna try it.
Overall 3 stars because of the company price increase.
As I write this review I realize I should have studied the ingredients more closely anyway. Perhaps the price hike was a favor in disguise.

My dogs have eaten Royal Canin since they came to my house. There’s not much to say about quality. If you find the product sold by Amazon it is the cheapest you will find it, much cheaper than in petco, +Kota or any other store. The problem is that they don’t always have.
