We had been feeding our pup another premium brand of large breed puppy chow. Though early on when we first got him he would eat without a problem at times he would leave some and maybe eat it later. He finally reached a point where he became very picky, and to get him to eat we had to mix canned food with the dry. He was having some tummy problems and our vet suggested the Royal Canin. We figured we would give it a shot, none of our local pet stores carry the puppy chow so we ordered from Amazon. It arrived and we gradually switched him over, you could tell right from the start he liked it ALOT. Once we had him fully switched over to the Royal Canin there were no more tummy problems (nice solid stools) and he absolutely LOVES this dogfood! It has been a month now and when feeding time rolls around he starts getting excited, and is very enthusiastic about the meal, once he starts eating he doesn’t stop and it’s gone in no time! He looks good, has lots of energy. Oh, and no more smelly canned food to deal with :).

My dog would only eat this brand. But it’s like 5x more expensive than other brands.

My German Shepherd Puppy is now almost 6 months old. He has been on Royal Canin GSP food for about 3 months now. The transformation we have seen in that 3 months has been AMAZING.
At 8 weeks, we started him on another recommended grain-free brand. This absolutely destroyed the poor guys tummy and left him with runny poop constantly. He then started eating less and less. The vet told us to give it a couple days, and then to switch the food if he still wasn’t eating. Ever since we switched, he chows the whole bowl down in one sitting! That was rare for him to do prior to the switch. He now has whole poops, and his coat is so beautiful!! We now have one happy boy who can’t wait for meal time! We will be switching to the adult food once he is a year old.

Best dog food for a GSD!! I have two GSD, German line, straight from Germany. The first one I got, used to have runny stools. Sometimes it would get so bad that it was almost straight liquid! The vet recommended I try a different brand food. I tried several that were recommended from vets, including Blue Buffalo and other expensive brands grain free brands as well! Nothing worked. Then I talked to a breeder that used this and said many of the breeders in Germany also uses this brand. So I decided to give it a try! WOW, it was absolutely wonderful! No more loose stool! Her stool is solid! She has great energy and a beautiful coat!! I just got a second GSD and immediately started the switch to RC and he is perfect with solid stools! Love this brand….wish it was cheaper but you get what you pay for, I guess!

The bag arrived save and vacuum sealed. I will definitely order again, much easier having it deliverd. I mix some chopped meat in with it for my German Shepherd and he enjoys eating it in his kennel so that’s where I give it to him. If I leave it out he won’t eat it, but in his kennel he downs it immediately.

This has been great for my GS/Malinois mix up until the last order. Not sure what the problem is…but he won’t eat it and has been throwing up. So…$100 tossed in the trash. Switching to something else.

When I first got my GSD puppy I transitioned her from 4Health (what my breeder was feeding) to this. However, after doing some research I found that this product isn’t all that great that people make it out to be.
I do acknowledge that some people may have GSDs that have a much more sensitive digestive tract compared to other GSDs (who already have sensitive digestive tracts to begin with) and that this feed might be the only feed that prevents their dog from having diarrhea, and for you this is a God send; but for the rest of us there is better stuff that’s around the same price we’re paying for this.
My pup really seemed to love this food, however her stool was never really solid with this feed. It was always irregular.
This lead me to look at exactly what this was made out of. Being a first time dog owner (by first time I mean taking care of completely, I have had dogs growing up), I did not think that by-product meals were a bad thing. However, after consulting both my vet and the trainers at my dog training facility by-product meals are in fact the bottom of the barrel ingredients that is used to make dog food.
For those that do not know by-product meals are parts of an animal in which we humans would typically not eat on a regular basis, such as intestines, feet, can contain bones, undeveloped eggs, can contain feathers, etc. The quality of by-product meals vary from batch to batch as well and so you really don’t know what you are paying for.
As a dog feed that is considered premium Royal Canin is in my opinion all name brand and non of the quality. It is BARELY (1-3 dollars) cheaper than REAL quality premium dog food like Blue Buffalo that contain absolutely NO by-product meals and lacks quite a bit in some aspects of nutrition.
I rated this 3 stars, because apart from the feed being made from Chicken By-Product Meal and also lacking in nutritional value compared to Blue Buffalo Wilderness: Large Breed Puppy which my dog is on now and has been on since that first month I got her, she did enjoy this food ate it quite well.
I would not recommend this product to fellow GSD owners due to the advice I received from my vet and from the trainers at the dog training facility that I attend.

My wife and I recently took in a new pure bred German Shepherd puppy. We made a large investment on him and love him dearly and we were worried when he wasn’t eating the food that the pet store recommended.
I contacted the pet store and they told me to just keep feeding him their store brand food and he’ll eventually eat it because he’ll realize that he’ll either have to eat it or starve! I was shocked. They just want you to keep buying their food.
German Shepherds are an extremely smart breed. If they don’t like the food you are feeding them they will eat just enough not to starve and you will end up with a very skinny dog.
We decided on the Royal Canine GS puppy brand after our vet appointment where the vet let Jaxon (that’s our puppy’s name) try several different brands and one of those was Royal Canine but not the GS one. He seemed to like it better than the rest. We found the GS version of Royal Canine on Amazon and gambled by purchasing it before knowing if he would really like it but we wanted the best for our new puppy.
I’m very pleased to say that Jaxon absolutely LOVES this food. With the old food he would eat only a few bites. With this food he eats almost the entire cup and a half plus the 3rd of a can of canned food that we give him at chow time. I’m glad to say that we have peace of mind now, knowing Jaxon will grow to be a healthy, thick dog. I will update this review if anything changes but as of right now this food is awesome. Highly recommended.

Having a puppy Shepard I had to do some research for it. This has been by far the best food and I mean my pup goes bonkers as I prepare it. he has gotten better taming himself now but seen how excited he gets at every bite is a good thing I compare the ingredients to health extensions as it was recommended when he was a puppy which wasn’t doing the same affect he would be hungry after too.
This also gave him a growth spurt 🥴 but he is happy both digestive and appealing coating is shinny wise before we would do vitamins and this is all in one. must have for your German puppy also I can’t say as far as pricing since I barely can find in stores only online thus far chewwy.com has it but is not by far different in price. Happy healthy pup is reviewing this as the best food :).

Our breeder recommended this for our new German Shepard and he really likes it and is growing up very healthy It cost 3x what the grocery store brands cost but all of our previous dogs got cancer from eating the cheap brands This is the best dog food money can buy

This brand of puppy food made specifically for German shepherds, it was recommended by my Vet. My dog has been eating it since she was a puppy and loves it. I’m about ready to switch her over to the German Shepherd adult. Royal Canin is made for many breeds specifically for them with the nutrients and vitamins they need. I wouldn’t feed her anything else. It’s a bit pricey though.

I recommend to buy this product online since it is a lot cheaper than buying it at the store. I have Prime and Subscribe & save and my wallet is pretty happy about it. I’m saving around 20$/bag compare to the pet stores price and arrives home. The packaging where it came was appropriate and the bag had no damage.
While it is really good food for my German Shepherd and his vet recommended it; he doesn’t seem to love this food. My cat and other 2 dogs ( a beagle and a mix) really enjoy this food when my GSD leave it unattended. So I can say my GSD is really picky. He is growing well, gaining weight appropriately and have no skin or stomach issues, diarrhea, etc. eating this food. I highly recommended.
Note: I added 2 pictures of my GSD the first he was 2 months old and the second the day he turned 4.
