The shape is perfect for the Pug mouth, and he does very well on it. The vet complimented us on his weight!

If you wanna feel your pug good food this is the best! I recently transitioned my almost 2 year old pug to this food cause she seemed to be indifferent about her food. When I got her the breeder was feeding her the puppy version of this, but I had switched her to science diet puppy then once she began eating adult food I started her on the small bites ‘perfect weight’ she liked it but she’s kinda finicky. Some days she’d leave her breakfast in her bowl all day.
I decided to change her food to this one because science diet seemed to lose their quality in the last year or so switching their bags to smaller sizes and hiking the prices up. Royal Canin is probably in my top three of good quality dog food, but definitely hits number 1 in ranking! It’s pricey but totally worth it. My pug LOVES her new food, and actually chews it now!
Update: I’ve started to notice my pug is having a itchy face, runny poops, and extra gassy. What the heck!

My Pug has severe allergies, which I hear is quite common for this breed. He was in terrible condition a year ago, he was 10 pounds overweight and constantly had terrible skin problems, itchy bumps and dark spots all over. I learned from my vet that this was not simply the result of a flea allergy, but also a food allergy. Initially I put him on a specially formulated hypoallergenic dog food from Royal Canin’s Veterinary formula line. This was very expensive, but well worth it, because my pug’s skin cleared up completely in just a few months and he is no longer suffering from constant skin irritations. The reason I am reviewing THIS product instead of the hypoallergenic food is because those veterinary specialized diets are designed to be used temporarily, only for specific ailments and cannot be bought without a prescription. When your Pug returns to a healthy state, this standard Pug formula is all you need for everyday feeding! Royal Canin has highly effective formulations for just about any pet ailment, just ask your vet! And their breed specific formulas are second to none for healthy everyday maintenance of your unique pet.

This is the ideal food for the morphology of this breed. No problems when collecting the stool. The shipping very well, arriving earlier than expected. The price through Amazon is the best, as it is better than in any pet store where we previously purchased it

We have two dogs, an Olde English bulldogge and a friendly little pug. Both dogs are on Royal Canin (pug food for the pug, bulldog food for the bulldogge). We had been on Blue Buffalo prior to this which both the dogs loved. Our vet asked us why we chose that brand. “Well, the brand seemed like it would be the best choice and natural and yadda yadda”. She replied “Yes, they do have a good marketing campaign, however I have a major problem with how they make their food”. She went on to say that Blue Buffalo sources different kibbles and bits from different manufacturers, there are too many cooks in the kitchen and too much room for problems. She recommended switching over to Royal Canin (she didn’t have any skin in the game since we don’t buy from her nor does she sell food). So we did. Now, the dogs coats are shiny, their poops are solid and compact, and they seem happy.
I will honestly say that I don’t think the pug cares for the taste all that much. In other words, sometimes he’ll just not eat until he’s really hungry. He’ll just leave the food in the bowl like a cat would and eat when the mood strikes him.
Based on our vet’s recommendation, the fact we’ve had them on the brand for over a year with no health problems or allergies, and the fact that the poops are solid and small, we’re staying with Royal Canin.
