dog likes it, but not sure why what there is here that makes it special for labs, our dog just gulps down the nuggets without chewing. like that the package is sealed, many times I have bought large bags of kibble only to finds holes in them later, nice to know that it’s been sealed.

Dog loves it but made her FAT with 1/2 amount normally feed with other foods, so she was always hungry!

No return or refund. It’s great food, but it’s not cheap. That being said, if I receive a box and bag of food with holes in it, it’s basically a value bag from dollar general.

When a ~1 year old yellow lab showed up on our back porch and we couldnt find its owners, we took him in. I knew yellow labs have problems with their joints and weight, and after hearing about Royal Canin from a co-worker, we had to try it out. I did not want to see Buddy (our adopted pup) go through what my dad’s yellow lab went through before passing away. We already had a black lab/brindle boxer mix who always ate the less expensive food. It was time to feed them quality product.
This product is definitely quality. So much so that our cats like to eat it! The large kibbles are supposed to slow labs down when eating; however, Buddy has learned to swallow them whole! I have to feed him by hand so that our other dog gets a chance to eat her food (she actually chews her food). The first week – gas was HORRIBLE with both the pups. After the first week, it was gone. I have not noticed any difference in their coat, but I definitely noticed that they have alot of energy! It is hard to compare physical traits because we’ve only owned Buddy for 3 weeks now, so we had no idea how he acted before we got this food.
One positive thing I have noticed with the Royal Canin is that our black lab/boxer mix no longer has bad breath! We were told the last time she went to the vet that she was getting some tarter. I knew we had to start brushing her teeth, but these big kibbles took care of the problem for us! (One less thing for us to do!)
With two dogs, we seem to be going through the 30 lb bag of food in less than a month. Buddy is 87 lbs, Lana is 75 lbs. We may try the Eukanuba (sp?) next and compare. I was extremely impressed how quickly Amazon got the food to us, and like others mentioned: it was nice not having to go to the store and buy their food! I ordered the food on Friday morning and it was delivered on Monday!

So, our lab/golden eats this up like candy. But, she’s a lab, so anything in her mouth is hard to get out.

We’ve got a big 120 lb mastiff/chocolate lab mix lovable beast with serious allergy and skin issues and have been through thousands of dollars of vet-recommended dog food “experiments” – limited ingredient, no grain, this protein, that protein, prescription/non-prescription, homemade, cooked/raw, and so forth, sometimes things work for a while, then our poor pup’s skin flairs up again and were thrown back to zero again.
About a year ago, a very experienced and reputable (obsessed?) Labrador breeder / trainer told me that she only feeds her dogs Royal Canin Labrador. So, out of desperation, we tried it. Not only did he love it, his skin irritation got under control for months.
What’s kind of odd and ended up being an amazing “accidental” find is that, when his skin irritable begin flaring up again, we were low on dog food and I had tried to find anywhere with Royal Canin Labrador food nearby or with delivery and couldn’t. During a visit to a big-name pet supply chain store about 30 miles from home (was told they had it in store), one of their wonderful employees recommended that I try Royal Canin Golden Retriever “because they are both retriever breeds”. I bought it because I was running out of options, and am so glad I did. After feeding him Royal Canin Golden Retriever, his skin irritation went back down. Don’t know how or why, but it did. So now, we only feed our big beloved dog beast (with very expensive and high-maintenance allergies and skin issues) only Royal Canin Labrador, alternating between Labrador and Golden Retriever every now and again.
Since switching to Royal Canin over a year ago, he’s had more playful spunk. his fur has been softer with a beautiful sheen, and he’s definitely been a happier pup with significantly less itchy, painful allergy flare ups.
This is high-quality dog food by a company who clearly knows what they are doing to make dogs lives the best that they can be. It is worth every penny.

ETA on 1/7/13: Still using this dog food and loving it! My dogs are very healthy and happy. I hadn’t been ordering through Mira because I’m not so good at planning ahead and was worried after my previous shipments were taking longer but my last order shipped in two days. Thanks!
ETA on 1/5/11: BE AWARE THAT THIS ITEM IS NOT BEING SHIPPED PRIME ANYMORE. TWO DAY SHIPPING HAS BEEN DROPPED AND FREE STANDARD (SUPER SAVER) SHIPPING WHICH TAKES ABOUT A WEEK IS HOW IT IS BEING SHIPPED DUE TO ITS WEIGHT. IT STILL HAS A PRIME LOGO ON IT SO BE CAREFUL AND PLAN YOUR ORDERS AHEAD OF TIME. I LEARNED OF THIS THE HARD WAY AND HAD TO PICK UP AN EXTRA BAG AT ALMOST $10 MORE WHILE WAITING FOR MY SHIPMENT. NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, JUST AN FYI 🙂
I’ve been feeding this to my oldest lab for 6 years and the youngest for almost 2 (puppy formula 1st year for both). They are both so healthy, perfect weight, shiny coats, clear eyes and good joints. My vet had recommended it so we did the research and found that because pet food is not regulated like our food (no pet FDA) a lot of companies can word things to sound like their food is good for your pet, not full of fillers and is nutritional. But listen carefully to those ads and how and what they tell you. Read the labels and research, even if you don’t go with this brand. I have found this product to be great for my dogs and I am happy with what it is. They both get a scoop in the morning and night. They both weigh about 70 pounds.
It’s also cheaper for me to buy it here than the store and I do not mind having it delivered to my door at all 🙂

Since I started buying this food for my Golden who suffers from hypothyroidism, I started to regulate her weight. They also love it!! I’ve never seen them so excited about eating croquettes
Lau –
My dog needed, because of cancer, to eat antioxidants to help stop the progression, she liked them a lot, unfortunately the disease won us 😞
Berenice –
The order arrived at the right time. My 6-year-old labrador loves these croquettes! Just
see the bag and she gets crazy!
Buy them because she had her hair very opaque, and the
Change was seen considerably! Now it’s more than shiny!

Vet recommended.

The croquettes hit me well in time and form.
Properly sealed packaging and description as requested.
I haven’t had time to rate quality vs price because I just started giving him the kibbles, but it seems my dog liked them.
Regarding taste: I haven’t tried them:) nor do I intend to try them. Hahaha
